Conservation status
Kapuas Hulu was declared a Conservation Regency by Indonesia in 2003, fifteen years before the UNESCO designation. This is not a recent rebrand. Local government committed to that direction two decades ago and has held it.
Why that matters for a plant
A conservation regency and a biosphere reserve mean that protecting the forest is official policy, not a slogan. Whatever grows in the soil takes up what the soil contains, and a region where forest still covers most of the land is a very different starting point from farmland next to factories or highways. We buy from the farming families who grow it, not from brokers or aggregators. Our team has been to the village, stayed in the homes, and watched the harvest and drying process. Fair prices paid directly keep money in a community with strong reasons to maintain the forest around it.
Independent testing
